Literacy Link

Today I read the book, Thank You, Mrs. Falker, by Patricia Pollaco.  The students seemed to identify with Trisha, the little girl in the story.  I used it to teach them that everyone is different, each with strengths and weaknesses of our own.  I couldn't help but cry at the end, thinking about the future, in hopes that one day I may have that same encounter with one of my former students.  How rewarding it will be to have one of them tell me how I affected their life in a positive way.  Today I realized how important my job really is.  No amount of money could replace that feeling that one gets when they know they have made a difference in the life of a child.  If you have not read this book, you MUST!  http://www.patriciapolacco.com/books/falker/falker_index.html

  2. Love Patricia Polacco. We read The Keeping Quilt and others this year. Then we wrote letters to her and got a letter back (preprinted). I posted about it on my blog awhile ago. Stop on by. I teach 3rd grade too.
